The Mantra to a Successful Sales and Marketing Manager by Malamine Ouedraogo

Since childhood, MalamineOurdrogo has dreamt of doing something big and bring substantial change to his motherland. After completing his Bachelor and master’s in Marketing Sales, MalamineOuedraogo starts his career doing a small job. With complete focus and dedication, Malamine began to escalate on the ladder of success and has not looked back ever since. Soon, his hard work pays off, and he manages to position himself as a Senior manager in a big company.

What is the secret to Mr Malamine’s success? Here are some tips that he followed in his career to be a successful manager:

1. Keep your Job seeking mode on:

Might sound a bit odd but according to MalamineOuedraogo, thinking like you are a desperate jobseeker can get you anything. We all know how hard we used to try and practices all night for our job interviews. That do or die spirit is what you need to get ahead in sales and marketing. Always think that you are still unemployed and your client meeting is your interview. That kind of spirit will keep you on your toes and help you reach your goal.

2. Don’t limit your talent to your job description:

Malamine Ouedraogo is a quite social and artistic personality, and he uses his social skills to bond with people from his business circle. He believes that coming out of your shell and doing beyond your comfort label is vital for growth. When we keep doing the same job, repeatedly, it became mundane. While the world changes, and we remain stuck with our old methods. When you are in sales and marketing, try to be close to your clients. Find a similar topic through which you can bond. Sometimes explaining the product like a professional does not help much if your approach is not friendly.

3. Get yourself recognised in the organisation:

Working in a large group with a large number of employees sometimes mask your presence, if you do not go those extra steps to be recognised. According to Mr Malamine, having an identified face in the organisation is quite essential not only to get ahead but also to survive. If you think you are not getting much exposure, try to switch between projects or collaborate with some other employees. If you are a fresher, try to be involved in every activity in the organisation and learn as much as you can. Try to make notes what you don't understand and ask them to your seniors. Sometimes people like when you ask for their help, and it will make them feel better.

4. Sharpen your Negotiation Skill

Sales and marketing require flawless negotiation skill and if you lack it to learn it as soon as possible. MalamineOuedraogo still remembers his initial days, when he used to fill like an outsider in his new organisation, but quickly he starts to make good friends and get involved. His negotiation skill was not that great too, but he asked all his seniors colleagues for help. Sometimes he acted like a customer and asked his colleague to be a salesperson.
